Are we there yet? By Mason

By

My 6 year old son, entered the story below as part of the National Year of Reading competitions: Are we there yet?

We just found out he was one of the NSW winners and this little Mummy is SO proud, I just had to share this with you:

My name is Mason and I am 6 years old. My favourite place is Charlesworth Bay which is a beach in Coffs Harbour. I will now tell you the directions. Go past the Big Banana at the end of the hut things, turn at the sign saying Pacific Bay Resort, go past the aquarium and into the car park.

It’s my favourite place because we explore rock pools and sometimes find crabs and sea snails. Once with Daddy we found a jelly fish. I like that it’s a bit of a secret because not many people know it’s there. Today we went looking for special rocks, shells and water under the sand but it was taking FOREVER. I like to take off my shoes and go into the water to play.

There are two beaches, one is big and not very rocky and the little one is very rocky and someone has built a little skinny path to a boat shed. I like the little beach more because there are more rock pools and I like to go to the boat shed. I want to go fishing one day or go on a boat to one of the nine islands.
