Growing up

By

I’ve been a Mum for almost 6 years and 4 months now. Yet every so often something happens that reminds me smack-bang that I really am a Mother now.

Tonight it was me saying the words for the first time ever: “have you done your homework yet?” As soon as the words came out of my mouth it hit me: oh my goodness, I really do sound like a mother now. Then I wondered how many times in the next 12 years I would ask that question.

After explaining to my 6 year old son who just started Year 1, the deal about homework (no TV or computers until homework is done) – how often he would have to do it (everyday) and for how long (the next 12 years if not longer) – his response was “Oh Mum I am never going to get to do anything fun after school ever again!”

At about this point my 2 year old started shouting “I do homework, I do homework.” So I had to set up a chair for him as well with paper and a pencil for him to practise his “spelling words.”

After the homework, which really only took about 10 minutes to do, Mr 6 decided he wanted to wash up the dirty dishes. YES he actually asked me to wash up. He dragged over the stool while I “arranged” the dishes. Then he called over his little brother to do the wiping up.

So while I yearn a little for when they were squishy little babies it is moments like these when I am happy they are growing up a little… just not too fast!

Are you happy for your kids to grow up or do you want to just keep them little forever?

I want to show my appreciation to this writer for rescuing me from this type of incident. Just after looking through the online world and coming across opinions that were not powerful, I believed my life was well over. Living devoid of the answers to the problems you have fixed all through your entire guide is a serious case, as well as the ones which might have adversely affected my entire career if I hadn’t come across the website. Your actual natural talent and kindness in handling the whole lot was very useful. I am not sure what I would’ve done if I had not discovered such a thing like this. I am able to at this time relish my future. Thanks very much for your reliable and amazing guide. I will not be reluctant to propose your web blog to any person who would like recommendations about this matter.
