Guest post: Photo table!
By*Thank you* to Tanya Hart our newest guest-writer for Coffs for Kids.
Since moving to Coffs I have met several mums who live away from family. I too, have lived away from my family, immediate and outlaws in-laws since my first child was six months old.
I wanted to ensure that my little ones knew who these people (that would come to stay at the house every now again) were and so I decided to cover their meal table in photos !! We have everyone from great nans, aunts, uncles, nan, pop, Grandma and Grandad. We have also printed out some of our favourite photos just of us on adventures.
The boys love to point at the pictures and say who the people are and I love it when they ask questions like “how old was I in this one mum?” or “where were we in this photo mummy?” it’s also pretty special to hear my eldest telling his younger brother what happened on an adventure if he was too young to remember.
As our relatives live oversaeas and interstate it is a great way for the boys to still be seeing them as they don’t always want to sit in front of the computer and talk on skype !
At the very least it’s a great way to redecorate a “tired” table. I printed the photos on my home computer and bought a piece of clear plastic tablecloth from bunnings a simple renovation with great rewards !
Tanya is a local Mum and owns www.tootle.com.au , which does not only sell fantastic little backpacks specially designed for toddlers but has heaps of great recipes and activities as well. Make sure you have a look at the website and Facebook page.
