Homemade Dinosaur Bones
ByThanks to the wonderful exhibition at the Park Beach Plaza over the past few weeks, there is a bit of a fascination in dinosaurs in our household at the moment.
So on a quiet Saturday afternoon I thought I’d make some saltdough and let the kids get creative. First of all, we looked through some of our dinosaur books to get some inspiration.
In the meantime I made some salt dough which is super-easy: just mix together 2 cups of plain flour, 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of water. Mix until combined then knead lightly on a floured surface until smooth.
We got out our toy dinosaurs to make footprints in the dough, some playdough tools to help with rolling and shaping, made some bones and teeth and even poo!
We then laid all the creations on two oven trays and once the kids were finished bake in a slow oven – 120 degrees for 2.5-3 hours until hardened then leave to cool completely on the trays.
All in all a fantastic activity, cheap, minimal mess and it kept the kids busy and creating for a while!
