Kids Love Cartoons? Visit the Library!

Thanks so much to Judy from Coffs Libraries for this great article on the resources the local libraries have for kids interested in cartooning, graphic novels and drawing!

It is exciting to see the inaugural Coffs Coast Cartoon Festival being held in conjunction with the 30th Rotary Cartoon Awards.

We love supporting personal development in all forms, and cartoons are a great medium to show creativity, and develop self-expression skills. Cartoons can be a one image statement, or an elaborate Graphic Novel – and all things in between.  Many readers enjoy the journey through a graphic novel, or love to see the depictions of cartoon characters in a story. Stories such as the “Cat in a Hat”, “Garfield” and “Charlie Brown” are great cartoon character favourites. Cartoon stories and graphic novels are a great introduction to reading when a traditional novel seems a bit daunting.

You can see what is available at your local library by checking out our online catalogue: –

If you are feeling inspired by the festival, and you are looking to create your own cartoons there are also books available to borrow from Coffs Harbour Libraries  to provide you with ideas, inspiration, tips and tricks.

You can call into any branch of the library & staff will help you find what you are looking for.  You can also have a look at our Catalogue Online and see what’s available.   It is easy to arrange to have books, videos or magazines transferred to the library branch closest to you for collection.

You can access the library catalaogue online at any time-here are some options to get you started: –
