Music For Kids

By

My two year old has recently started singing in the backseat the car and his made-up songs include a mixup of ‘Old McDonald Has a Farm’ with cows, Daddy and cake!  He also loves to “jam” (as his five year old brother puts it) when I bring out the box of assorted kids musical instruments.

So time, I thought, to enrol him in the Early Childhood Music program at the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium.

There are lots of benefits of an Early Childhood Music program such as: helping coordination, cognitive, language and listening skills, concentration, self-expression and creativity.

The Early Childhood Music program runs for 9 weeks every term and each lesson is between 30 and 45 minutes long, depending on the age group.  There are four classes for 2, 3, 4 and 5 year olds with different programs tailored to suit each age group and development stage.

In addition, the Conservatorium runs a Keyboard Group for Primary School aged kids (5-8 years) with two intakes per year (Terms 1 and 3) and a maximum of 4 students in each group.

There are also Young Drums groups on Tuesday afternoons, one for 5 & 6 year olds and the other for 7 and 8 year olds, with a class size of 6 in each group.

For more information visit the Conservatorium website or phone 6652 1592.  You can also drop into their new premises next to the Cinemas at the Bray St Complex.  The new premises are amazing.  It is such a beautiful space with a great layout, natural light and lots of studios.  There is a performance space still under construction that is going to be amazing once completed.

The Conservatorium has kindly donated a term of Early Childhood Music valued at $125 suitable for 2, 3 or 4 year olds.

To enter please email Alison@coffsforkids.com and answer the question: what is your child’s favourite musical instrument? Winner will be announced and contacted 27th June.
