The good old school fete

By

ahhh… the good old school fete. It is good to see some things never change.

I went to St Augustine’s when I was in primary school and I used to love the school fete. There was just something about a 5 cent toffee, pony rides, lucky dips, guessing competitions. All of my friends hanging around – not in school uniform, not in school hours. It was like a party.

Fete is a French word, and as you can imagine goes back centuries. One of the official definations is: an elaborate event, usually with outdoor entertainment. These days they are held as a fundraiser, bringing in members of the local community into your school, church or pre-school.

Most schools in our local area seem to haveĀ a fete in one form or another – some call it something different like the Casuarina Spring Fair, or Bishop Druit College Village Fair.

Coming up is the Narranga Primary School Fete (Robin St), being held on Friday 5th November after school.

If your kid’s school is having a fete, or a Fair of any sort please email or contact us and we will most certainly list you under the Events Calendar. I always need to know where I can get my toffee fix!
