Two easy craft ideas for Valentine’s Day
By
Do you have lots of broken, old crayons in your kids craft box? Here is a great craft activity that will not only reuse all those broken crayons but is easy and mess-free.
Melted Heart Crayons
You will need:
- Broken crayons with paper removed (the kids can help you do this)
- Heart shaped baking tray (the one I used was from Big W for around $10)
- Cardboard or magnets
1. Preheat oven to 230 degrees.
2. Break all the crayons into small pieces into a bowl. You might need to chop some up if they are the fat crayons.
3. Spread the crayons into the hearts evenly (don’t fill up too much unless you want really chunky hearts)
4. Bake for 10-15mins. You’ll need to check the crayons as they melt (the kids love to watch the progress too)
5. Once they are melted remove from the oven and let cool to harden. (the crayons will look pretty ugly at this stage but the beautiful colours are underneath)
6. Remove and you can either use double-sided tape to stick onto a card, attach a strong magnet to the back for a pretty fridge magnet or the kids can just reuse the crayons again to draw or colour pictures.
Heart Butterfly
And this is what we did while we were waiting for the crayons to melt and cool: these are very easy to make, no directions needed!
